NTP users are strongly urged to take immediate action to ensure that their NTP daemons are not susceptible to being used in distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. Please also take this opportunity to defeat denial-of-service attacks by implementing Ingress and Egress filtering through BCP38.

Snapshot Roll Problems

Sometimes there is a problem with the snapshot tarball rolls.

If this happens before the snapshot has committed the change of packageinfo.sh to the master repo:

  • go into the snap/ntp-repo/ repo and:
    • Remove any PENDING or RESYNC directory
    • bk unedit `/backroom/ntp-dev/:gen-modified`
    • bk unpull
    • cd ..
    • rm .mksnap-REPO*
    • restart the snap roll

If all else fails:

  • note the last good snapshot roll tag
  • flush the snap repo
  • check it out as of the last good snapshot roll tag
  • restart the snap roll
